On the paper

If you don't wish to read the dorkier postings below, perhaps you will like to hear my brief thoughts on the whole process of writing the cultural paper and learning more about Appalachia.

It was really cool yet weird to find that so many of the things I thought were just my family (i.e. obsession with roads, obsession with hiking, always telling stories, etc.) may actually be cultural and regional.  It makes me feel academically validated somehow, though I know that sounds lame. My favorite part of the paper: That I can now blame my oppositionality and problems with authority on my culture. :) ha ha. I can't help but question things... it my cultural heritage to be suspicious... :) {Don't you just love rationalization}
