Things to do

Things to do this summer, in my freedom.  At first when people asked me about this, I just thought: "I'll do nothing... travel 'round and see my friends."  But then last night I remembered I used to have this other life I wanted desperately to live in, and now is my chance to pick up some things that have been dropped. So... in an ideal world, this is what I'd do with my 2 months of freedom:

*Finish my novel (okay, so maybe just work on it again... since I haven't done that in 5 months) :(
*Write my first slam poem (I'm only inspired to do this when I'm at a slam, then I get home and feel quiet in my own skin. Hmmmm.... But there is one or two topics-- mostly social justice issues -- that I possess enough passion on to potentially slam.)
*Record my music: Either with P and the equipment at the Counseling Center, or ideally-- with P and C and her brother in Nashville. There is talk of that but it probably won't materialize.
*Submit 5-10 poems to different places

On the less-creative end of things:
*Find a place to live
*Get rid of unnecessary crap
*Move
*Clean out my car (you laugh-- but this is a huge task!)

What stands between me and all this is, now, I guess... just two papers to write and 50 or so left to grade, plus 100 exams next week and 75 more the week after. Oh dear. :(

I think you could write a really good slam poem, though I agree with you about the cool-down that happens once you get home and into your regular writing self. It seems that slam poems must come from ager, righteousness, etc. I like your list :-) and am excited that you will be done with this really busy time in the near future.
